Application of Abdominoplasty
Sagging abdominal skin is very common,  especially with  patients who have given birth.  Along with weight problems which is usually due to excess fat in this region.   Physical exercise and weight loss due to opening of the abdominal muscles is also an option though.   Abdominal skin varies alot and creates problems.  The patients suffer with stress about how to find appropriate clothes.  Localized in this region, additional excess weight makes one feel very self concious.  Some patients also suffer sweating disorders which triggers smell and also excess hair too.

In order to acheive the ideal weight, such suitable candidates can undergo a ‘tummy tuck’ surgery.  However if you have plans to get pregnant again in the future, it would be wise to leave this operation until later.  One must leave at least two to three weeks in order to not see adverse affects that would hinder the quality of the wound healing and scar proccess.  Direct treatment of superficial stretch marks is not very successful.  One can only be rid of these when the skin is removed and discarded.  If you have a wide spread distribution of stretch marks sideways and upwards they tend to remain in the body.

 
Surgery under epidural anesthesia is a preffered choice (local-regional anesthesia-delivery) and this form is initially performed.  A horizontal incision during the surgery is made and usually concealed in the bikini line together with the removal of fatty tissue under the skin.  Meanwhile, a new belly button hole is drawn on the skin, for a suitable opening to be created.  Liposuction is  performed from the top and sides to significantly reduce the excess fat in this region.  Weakened muscle tissues of the abdominal wall are also secured to each other  in order to create a more robust  suture.  One or two days in hospital is required according to the patient.  The patient is encouraged to take walks for the week after the proceedure.  An Elastic bandage or brace should be worn, post op, for at least a week also.

 
Sometimes, deformities in certain situations can be resolved with a mini tummy tuck in which case the belly button remains in place.  A more limited removal of skin is performed.  According to the person’s pain threshold some patients find  the first days of tummy tuck surgery is extremely painful, others find it not quite so.  Pain relievers are used therefore throughout this time.  Bleeding and infection rates are very low post operation.  Such surgery is done from time to time in obstetrics and gynecology or general surgery diciplines.  During any quite major surgery, risk-benefit assessment for the safeguard of the patient is always undertaken and smoking cigarettes should be avoided.  Even in the best of hands, the physician should always bear in mind that a contra indication could occur.
